Pigments are suitable for coloring polyester, epoxy, or polyurethane resins and gelcoats. The pigment paste is made by grinding the pigment with resin between rollers. Because the pigment is very well mixed, often only a small amount of pigment paste is needed to color the resin or gelcoat. For coloring thin layers of gelcoats, it is often necessary to add a larger amount of paste; however, this can significantly affect the parameters of the cured resin. The recommended amount is up to 20%. A larger amount should always be tested with regard to the possible change in the strength of the future product.
